Duke of Edinburgh Award – Volunteering Opportunities

Join us at Lawrence Nurses and make a difference in your local community.
Here are some ways you can get involved:

1. Organise and Promote Your Own Fundraising Event for Lawrence Nurses

Plan and run a fundraising activity to support our hospice-at-home services. From bake sales and quizzes to sponsored walks and selling our Christmas cards, your creativity can help raise vital funds for our nursing team.
We can provide fundraising advice, marketing materials including our logo, pop-up banners and literature. We will also promote your event on our website and social media platforms although feel free to create your own posters and literature – we will supply our brand guidelines.

2. Volunteer at Our Community Events

Support our local community events by helping with setup, greeting guests, running stalls, or handing out flyers.
From January to Autumn 2026, we will have a regular presence at Deddington Market, a coffee morning in Duns Tew in March, and a refreshment stall at Chastleton Church during the Chastleton House season. You’ll have the chance to volunteer on weekends, and during school holidays when events are running.

3. Volunteer at Major Fundraising Events

Get involved in flagship events that normally take place at weekends such as Gala Dinners, Cricket Days or Golf Days. Duties include help with registration, welcoming guests, managing raffles and waiting tables. Our major events take place during the spring and summer months.

4. Help with Street Collections and Christmas Card Sales

Join us for local collection days in Chipping Norton town centre and selling Christmas cards at the Co-op supermarket. Help raise awareness and funds while building your confidence talking to the public. Christmas card sales are taking place now until the beginning of December 2025.

5. Support our Monthly Bereavement Support Walk and Talk Groups

You can lend a hand by baking cakes, welcoming participants, and helping tidy up at the end of the afternoon (around 3.30 pm). These sessions take place at Glyme Hall, Chipping Norton on the third Wednesday afternoon of each month.

6. Volunteer at Our Pop-Up Shop in Chipping Norton

We may have an opportunity to open a pop-up charity shop in Chipping Norton for one or two weekends in 2026. We are currently in discussions with the Co-op, who own several vacant properties in the town. If the project goes ahead, we will need volunteers to help source and price stock, serve customers, and support with running the shop. More details will be shared once confirmed.
