Lawrence Nurses

Our nurses are the heart and soul of everything we are and everything we do. Lawrence Nurses consists of 18 highly qualified and experienced registered nurses.

They are all highly skilled in their own right but work in close partnership with a range of people:

  • Patients and their families
  • GPs
  • Community Nurses
  • Community Hospitals
  • Hospices
  • The Marie Curie and Macmillan nursing services
  • The Team Leader

The Nurses are led by the Registered Nurse Manager Wendy Palfrey who is supported by a team of nurse coordinators; Clare Caple, Jane Evans, Suzanne Fyffe and Alison Nicholls.

Sam Dulley is both the Operations Manager and Company Secretary. Sam joined the team in 2019 and has experience working within a wide range of sectors, including charity and healthcare, and looks forward to developing her role within LHNT.

The core team coordinate nursing care, liaise with GPs and community nurses and arrange on-going training in palliative and hospice at home care for all the nurses who work for Lawrence Nurses.

Every nurse is experienced in end of life care, able to treat symptoms and give medications.
They are there to listen and answer questions as well as providing reassurance and comfort so patients and their loved ones can make the most of the time they have left together.

Jane Evans, Lawrence Nurse.

“Caring for someone in their final days is a privilege.I try to do everything I can to make each person and their family comfortable. It’s about gaining people’s trust, creating a calm atmosphere and putting people at their ease. Ensuring there is good pain relief is also essential.

Helping them have a wash or bringing them tea in their favourite cup is also part of the care offered. Families often tell me that just knowing there’s someone to call them if there’s a change in the condition of their loved one makes a huge difference to them too.”
